You’re not paying attention. Turkey is not going to get direct flights to the occupied areas. It’s not on the table. All Turkey can hope for is the opening of its EU chapters in return for progress on Cyprus. For the Republic that includes the return of Varosha and access to Turkish ports as part of Turkey fulfilling the Ankara Protocol. That’s all that’s being discussed according to Kasoulides.

Are you really such a lame-brain? In case you don’t know, several of Turkey’s EU chapters are frozen because of Ankara’s refusal to open its ports to Cyprus under the Ankara Protocol and Cyprus is also blocking the energy chapter.
No chapter can open without the agreement of Cyprus. Now stop wasting everyone’s time with your ignorant comments.
Lordo wrote:now stop and take a deep breath and think. if terkey has a problem with the chapters they have to implement the ankara protokol so negotiations can continue. it has nothing to do with the cyprus problem. you wanting varosa to just start talking again or allowing a few chapters to continue is pissing in the wind. you are confusing the two issues in your ignorance. varosa will not open unless ercan is opened and the ports etc will be opened at terkey choosing assuming that they wish to do that.
you are oblivious to the dangers you face if the ports are indeed opened because the terkish economy will it yours alive. and there will be more anatolians in the south then there are in the north.

The deal the EU are working on is to return Varosha to its rightful owners and allow Cypriot ships to use Turkish ports in exchange for opening EU negotiating chapters for Turkey and allowing Turkish Cypriots to trade through Famagusta. I really doubt they are going to consider direct flights as this would be in breach of international law and in violation of the ROC's sovereignty.
Best to wait and see.
