When have I not replied to your questions? I may have missed them to a spell away from the forum but you are always free ro ask them again whether you get an answer you want to hear is another thing, you have to undestand that I do not have to agree with you and what is support is not necessarily right...you are not god and do not have all the answers.

More evidence that the Cyprus FM is insisting on the return of Varosha as a key to restarting the talks :

Returning Varosha would be a game changer

Returning the fenced-off part of Famagusta (Varosha ) to its lawful inhabitants would be the kind of “game changer” needed to overturn the deep levels of mistrust Greek Cypriots have for Turkey, Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides said.

In an interview with London Greek Radio (LGR) on Tuesday, Kasoulides was asked to elaborate on reports that the EU is mediating between Cyprus and Turkey to reach a deal on returning the Turkish occupied coastal town which was sealed off by the Turkish military in August 1974 and has since remained uninhabited.

“Everyone understands that something is needed that will constitute a game changer,” he said, adding, “For us, Famagusta is the great step forward”.

It would undoubtedly improve significantly existing trust issues between the two sides and enable the peace talks to proceed with the resolution of matters of substance as far as the Cyprus issue is concerned, he said.

The deal the EU are working on is to return Varosha to its rightful owners and allow Cypriot ships to use Turkish ports in exchange for opening EU negotiating chapters for Turkey and allowing Turkish Cypriots to trade through Famagusta. I really doubt they are going to consider direct flights as this would be in breach of international law and in violation of the ROC's sovereignty.

Best to wait and see.

You’re not paying attention. Turkey is not going to get direct flights to the occupied areas. It’s not on the table. All Turkey can hope for is the opening of its EU chapters in return for progress on Cyprus. For the Republic that includes the return of Varosha and access to Turkish ports as part of Turkey fulfilling the Ankara Protocol. That’s all that’s being discussed according to Kasoulides.
