MR as you can see from the comments on this forum nothing has changed and the likelihood of union is further away than ever.

Does that lead us to think that someone has leaked it to test the water...???

In any event, the ever-intrasigent Illegal Regime have rejected any such proposal.

Yes, it seems that the occupation regime are unwilling to accept even a modest proposal to move things forward. Then they complain that a “solution” is out of reach and compromise impossible. As you can see from their responses, it's still partition or death for them. A stance that has led them nowhere.

The deal being proposed is the return of Famagusta to its rightful owners in exchange for direct trade for TCs under EU supervision. In parallel there would be the opening of Turkey’s EU accession chapters with the full implementation of the Ankara Protocol regarding access of Cypriot ships to Turkish ports. There is nothing involving direct flights to the occupied areas - which is anyway impossible under international law. I thought that was clear.
