Yes, it seems that the occupation regime are unwilling to accept even a modest proposal to move things forward. Then they complain that a “solution” is out of reach and compromise impossible. As you can see from their responses, it's still partition or death for them. A stance that has led them nowhere.

The deal being proposed is the return of Famagusta to its rightful owners in exchange for direct trade for TCs under EU supervision. In parallel there would be the opening of Turkey’s EU accession chapters with the full implementation of the Ankara Protocol regarding access of Cypriot ships to Turkish ports. There is nothing involving direct flights to the occupied areas - which is anyway impossible under international law. I thought that was clear.
