embezzlement, corruption and a misguided domestic, economic and foreign policy.

it is alleged that End-organ, his family and people close to him have dramatically increased their net worth since he has been in power. For a politician that is on a salary of about $58,000, it is alleged that he is worth about 1000 times that at $58 million. He also built a palace for himself that is worth about $1.2 billion and there were countless, "projects of the century" that required mega financing.

I also suspect that a large segment of the population have been paid off to keep him in power for so long.

We can only speculate how much it has cost to project military power in the wider region. That is probably the greater expense.

The end result; he is running out of runway, destroying the country and dragging the region towards instability.

End-organ celebrates journalists day and says that a press without restrictions is essential for democracy and a transparent society.

Imagine saying this while being the worlds biggest jailer of journalists.

...good reading,

Just 3,000 mostly elderly Greeks live in Turkey, which is also home to 60,000 or so Armenians and fewer than 20,000 Jews.

ISTANBUL — Ethnic and religious minorities in Turkey are on edge after a series of threats and attacks, with both government officials and their critics warning society’s most vulnerable are being targeted to foment strife.

Kurds, Christians and others have all faced intimidation or outright violence in recent weeks in what appear to be mostly unrelated incidents. Yet they coincide with growing economic uncertainty and political tensions wrought in part by the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 4,500 people in Turkey and hammered the economy.

...this one made me laugh (bitterly); what archaeologists will find, of this era in Turkey someday.

The sight of construction workers using jackhammers on the stone walls of the medieval Galata Tower, a hallmark of Istanbul’s ancient silhouette, sparked nationwide outrage in Turkey last month, but it was only the latest on a list of restoration blunders that has grown alarmingly long in recent years.

Just another day in Endogans caliphate.

the AKP's gestapo police force arresting and jailing Turkish "terrorist" lawyers that will wait for a "trial" that will never come in his kangaroo courts.

...twenty-first century Turkey; not even children escape his punishment. (and all of it meticulously recorded, i'm sure)

An old story, i know, but one i feel is worth remembering.

Bananas...

''Turkey is deporting at least seven Syrians for “provocatively” sharing their images while eating bananas on social media after a Turkish citizen complained that he can’t afford bananas while the refugees can.''

What was and is a rogue state, is quickly turning in to a failed state under Erdogan.

Who needs a bright future when you can whip up dreams about a glorious past.....
