Murat Sezgin, Mustafa Cihan Yılmaz and Ayşe Deniz Karacagil, charged with membership of an armed terror organisation following their participation in the Gezi protests, the latter also charged with wearing a red neckerchief “symbolising socialism”, appeared before Antalya Serious Crime Court No 1 yesterday for an interlocutory decision concerning their continued detention. Murat Sezgin’s lawyer Emine Harputlu denied that her client had any connection with the organisations named in the indictment and stated that, because he was in detention, he was unable to register with Istanbul University, where he had won a place. Ayşe Deniz Karacagil’s lawyer Bilal Doğan said that his client was exercising her democratic right in participating in the Gezi resistance and her acts did not constitute terrorism. Mustafa Cihan Yılmaz’s lawyer Hakan Evcin applied for the accused to be released pending trial in view of their socio-economic circumstances and the lack of any possibility of evidence being destroyed. The court decided to continue to hold the three youths in custody.

Protest is catching on in Erdogan's Turkey.

News from today's Hurriyet that 50 Alevi groups have come together to org a rally in Istanbul for tomorrow, Sunday 3 Nov.

"... Alevis are prepared to hold a rally in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district on Nov. 3 demanding equal citizenship rights and freedom of faith, as well as raising their voice against “assimilation policies” over their minority sect.

Alevis, who follow a liberal sect of Islam, will voice several demands at a rally in Kadıköy, including the removal of compulsory religion courses in schools, recognition of their worship places, Cemevi, and investigating the unknown murders of Alevis. The call for rally is signed by around 50 Alevi associations.

“We want our belief to have legal status so the Alevi community can perform their rituals freely,” said the Pir Sultan Abdal Association on its website in its call to the rally. ..."

Tim you still haven't received a single message from a Gezi protestor or from someone who is not a south Cyp enosis dickead. A standard Gezi protestor would probably ask you what your real intentions are by entertaining forever loser enemy b1453 and you wouldn't have a logical answer anyway.

Amnesty condemns excessive use of force against the peaceful ODTU protesters.

"... Turkey: End excessive police force against student protestors in Ankara

Amnesty International calls on the authorities to allow peaceful demonstrations in Ankara to continue unimpeded following the repeated use of excessive force by police against students protesting against the construction of a road on their university campus.

On 18, 21 and 26 October 2013, police used excessive force against students, academics and local residents protesting what they say is the clearing of around 3,000 trees as part of the construction of a highway. Riot police have used tear gas, flash bangs and plastic bullets against peaceful demonstrators.

On the night of Friday 18 October, 20 to 25 lorries and diggers started work for the construction of a highway through a forest, part of which is on Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) campus grounds. A university academic present at the scene told Amnesty International that at around 10.30pm police used tear gas, firing a large number of canisters, first towards the ground, then directly at the 20 peaceful demonstrators as they were attempting to enter the campus. She told Amnesty International that she was hit on the heel by a gas canister and another person was hit on his hand by a plastic bullet..."
