As we saw a saw months ago at the height of the Gezi Park protests, football fans who are usually the bitterest of opponents have come together to join in the protests at the Ankara ODTU.

Reported in Hurriyet...

"... Fan groups of many clubs of Ankara and other cities have held today a rather unusual football game on the disputed land of the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), where the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has recently launched a controversial road project that sparked an outcry..."

The Ankara ODTU has a huge campus, said to be the largest open space in Ankara.

The fear of many is that the road-building is just the start of attempts by the Municipality to commandeer more of the campus.

Explained a bit in today's Hurriyet... http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/odtu-w ... sCatID=341

A group of students at Anadolu University in Eskişehir protested against AKP (Erdoğan’s Justice and Development Party) Assistant Chairman Hüseyin Çelik and Provincial Governor Güngör Azim Tuna, who were attending the International Turkish Culture Congress held on the university’s campus. The rapid intervention police force intervened and made fifteen arrests (below).

The indictment - calling for a 17-year prison sentence - concerning 20-year-old university student, Görkem Özer (pictured below in the inset), who was arrested for participating in the Gezi protests in Izmir and is now being prosecuted, includes the following charge:

“It has been ascertained that the individual shared the photograph of the individual who was throwing stones at security forces in the course of the Gezi events”
referring to the fact that he spread the famous picture of the “catapult auntie” (below) on social media.
