Guess what? I haven't read anything from you concerning Britain's occupation of "Cyprus", Falklands, Gibraltar and a thousand other places. Since Britain is an occupation power in "Cyprus", what happens related to Britain should be mentioned here. Until the day you start critizing your own Britain in this forum, your posts critizing other countries should be interpreted as pure hypocrisy.

We have other threads covering Britain’s woes, Israel’s woes, America’s woes, etc. Tim, being a Turkish language pro looks after this one. He can’t be doing everything.

Please accept that and let’s not get stuck on individuals because it’s the subject matter that counts on a forum like this.

If you want to counter Turkey’s woes as highlighted by Tim go ahead, but if not then it’s pointless to attack the messenger.

As you say, this is a free, democratic forum, and opponents of the Gezi protest movement are equally welcome to post translations/summary translations of articles opposing this movement, or articulate rational, adult arguments questioning the theses raised by this movement.

Simply attacking the messenger is a sign of intellectual bankruptcy.

It is my firm belief that those involved in the Gezi protests welcome the support of progressive-minded people throughout the world, and are happy to see any efforts made to court this support, even if, as I accept, such efforts pale into significance compared to the bravery of those who are risking life and limb by taking to the streets of Turkey in what are essentially peaceful protests. If anybody can provide firm evidence to the contrary, i.e. that these brave people do not wish for any foreigners to try to get the message out to the world, then I will gladly desist from adding any more posts here, or elsewhere.

I am a Gezi Park protestor. I have attended the protests in Kocaeli and Istanbul and I don't wish an enemy supporter foreigner to talk about any events in Turkey in an enemy forum. If you want additional evidence, I invite you to any Turkish forum you would choose to talk about your views on Cyprus issue. And if those Turks believe this foreigner should continue talking about Turkey in an enemy forum, then I will shut up. But if they believe this enemy supporter foreigner has no say in Turkey affairs, then you stop posting on this one and start a new thread about British crimes in the world. Is it fair for you sir?

It is a small world, because I used to live in Izmit. I have drunk çene suyu (the water for which that city is famous). You may even have met me! I will take your word for it that you have attended the Gezi protests. You sound like an MHP supporter to me, and I hardly associate that party with the Gezi protests. Even so, I will take your word for it. Unless I receive a message to the contrary, this is the last time that I post any news about the Gezi protests on this thread. On the other hand, if any progressive people out there tell me they wish me to continue, I will do so.

Tim, don't let this dickhead stop you doing your stuff. For all you know he could be a Staunch Erdo supporter not wanting the world to know of the criminal activities of the Erdo government.

Hark at this hypocrite, a Turk, a foreigner to Cyprus, accusing another as a foreigner. I mean bloody hell, talk about pot kettle and black.

Hey Stupid (i mean stpier), fo back to turkey and leave Cyprus for the Cypriots, we don't need trash like you interfering here.

Hade assirktir.

Tim, I cannot seriously believe you would consider not posting further on the ongoing protests in Turkey. Caving in to censorship is exactly what Erdogan’s mob want. This is especially true as this issue has not gone away even if it has fallen out of the public eye.

I am a CHP supporter and since you lived in Turkey by now you should know we're one regarding Cyprus. You don't have the sympathy of any Turk if you seriously believe Turkey is "işgalci" there. You have my full support in posting your translations in non-enemy forums. I am pretty sure you will continue your posts here as well, just make sure those progressive people who will change your mind are not b25, greekwoman, kurupetos etc.
You still owe me an apology for calling me göt kılı. You can do it in private and I will also apologize.

Stupider, you are a göt kılı.

Who the hell are you to dictate who should post what and where.

Hey VP, are you reading this, according to your bum chum, we are the enemy, nice one, I will remind all those that want an easy solution about our enemy neighbours, neighbours that want our annihilation. Looks like the VP argument about protection has just been smashed, huh??

Why are you a member of an ‘enemy forum’? You want to comment here but not have anyone publish or comment on things you disapprove of? What is this nonsense?

I’ve heard it all now.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for you if you have taken part in these protests, as you say. The fact that my opinions on Cyprus diverge from those of the CHP does not mean that my opinions on the secular republic and the horror that I feel at so much that has gone on in Turkey over the past five years or so diverges from that of CHP supporters. So much is my respect for the Gezi movement that unless I am asked to do so by somebody within this movement or by progressive people somewhere in the world, I will stop making these posts. Please take one thing into consideration though - I have just entered "Ayşe Deniz K" into Google and this thread has come up in sixth place on page one. This shows that through this thread, people are able to access information about this young woman who is now in Alanya jail and is facing charges under the strict anti-terror laws based on the allegation of membership of a terrorist organisation, one of the pieces of evidence for which as shown on the indictment filed by the public prosecutor with the court is that she was wearing "a red coloured neckerchief which symbolises socialism". I would like the world to know about this outrage, which makes my blood boil, just as much as, for example, the bogus evidence supposedly consisting of documents written 2003 in the Calibri font when that font did not exist in that year used in another well-known trial. Because this thread has such a high Google ranking, people in the world who do not read Turkish are able to come to this thread and get information about such outrages. You really misunderstand me, but my respect for those who have actually gone out and faced tear gas and water cannon first hand knows no bounds, and if you wish me to desist, and nobody from the movement tells me otherwise, then I will do so.

I mistook you for an Erdoğan/Cemaat supporter, and apologise for that. I make no apologies for the question that I asked, though, you must surely be able to see the irony behind it.

Absolutely, no silencing here.

Have a feeling that this thread, largely through TD's work, is the most comprehensive account of the protests in the English language.
