I have settled in Cyprus and I am perfectly entitled to have my opinion about the future of this island - and I also want the British bases to go. I embrace universal values for the whole of humanity, and so support movements anywhere in the world which I see as helping to take these values forward, be it the Arab spring, anti-Putin protests in Russia or Gezi in Turkey. The fact that two or three immature fanatic nationalists here sometimes appear on this thread is immaterial to me. Up to 150 people visit this thread on some days, and if some of those are intelligent observers looking for information about what is happening in Turkey, I am pleased to have got the message out to them.

Guess what? I haven't read anything from you concerning Britain's occupation of "Cyprus", Falklands, Gibraltar and a thousand other places. Since Britain is an occupation power in "Cyprus", what happens related to Britain should be mentioned here. Until the day you start critizing your own Britain in this forum, your posts critizing other countries should be interpreted as pure hypocrisy.

I am afraid the place you chose to live has far more than a few immature fanatic nationalists.

Tim failed to say, legally, but then, that was by default. However, scumbags like you try to equate illegal Anatolian gypsies with legitimate entry and settlement. Hardly the same is it? But then again to an barbarian occupier it wouldn't be would it?

Idiot.

We have other threads covering Britain’s woes, Israel’s woes, America’s woes, etc. Tim, being a Turkish language pro looks after this one. He can’t be doing everything.

Please accept that and let’s not get stuck on individuals because it’s the subject matter that counts on a forum like this.

If you want to counter Turkey’s woes as highlighted by Tim go ahead, but if not then it’s pointless to attack the messenger.

Tim, didn't say anything of the sort, that's just your shit stirring attitude and putting words into peoples mouth.

Do you seriously compare and Anatolian Gypsies/prisoner/tramp, shipped over by Turkey illegally, with a genuine application for legal entry and settlement?

I think I will let the group decide who's talking shit again.

I believe GeziParkı protests do not need the support of some foreigner who is writing from an enemy country and whose posts are supported by the enemies. Just look at who backs you in this thread: kurupetos, b25, greekwoman.... I don't think there is any Turk in this world who would appreciate this ignominy.

As you say, this is a free, democratic forum, and opponents of the Gezi protest movement are equally welcome to post translations/summary translations of articles opposing this movement, or articulate rational, adult arguments questioning the theses raised by this movement.

Simply attacking the messenger is a sign of intellectual bankruptcy.

It is my firm belief that those involved in the Gezi protests welcome the support of progressive-minded people throughout the world, and are happy to see any efforts made to court this support, even if, as I accept, such efforts pale into significance compared to the bravery of those who are risking life and limb by taking to the streets of Turkey in what are essentially peaceful protests. If anybody can provide firm evidence to the contrary, i.e. that these brave people do not wish for any foreigners to try to get the message out to the world, then I will gladly desist from adding any more posts here, or elsewhere.
