Huge anti-Erdogan demo in Cologne, Germany.

30,000 turned out for the protest.

Some paras...

...Tens of thousands of Turkish people living in Germany have taken to the streets of Cologne, protesting against Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government in Turkey. The demo coincided with a return to Taksim Square in Istanbul.
At least 30,000 people participated in the Cologne demonstration against the Turkish government on Saturday. The organizers, the Alevi Community in Germany organization, estimated the turnout at roughly 80,000 people.

Banners carrying messages, mostly in Turkish, like "Erdogan, the wolf in sheep's clothing" and "Europe knows what's what - a fascist is in charge in Ankara," could be seen in the city on the Rhine, home to several major Muslim organizations in Germany. Another caption read ...
"Bye, bye Erdogan."

The Independent in GB covers the violence of the "police" attacking peaceful protesters in Taksim last night.

... and also takes an angle on how Caliph Erdogan is playing a very dangerous game by bringing religion in to the equation with his speeches to his rent-a-crowd "supporters" in various rallies.

Here's a coule of paras...

..."Mr Erdogan continues to refuse to answer the protesters' demands. Instead, he is touring Turkey, addressing mass rallies of his AK Party supporters, in a show of force. Hours before the protest in Taksim Square, he spoke to a crowd of around 15,000 in the Black Sea port of Samsun, saying:

"One prayer from our people is enough to frustrate their plans".

In what seemed an attempt to provoke religious anger, he repeated earlier claims the protesters had defiled mosques and attacked head-scarved women; there is no evidence they did either. A photograph alleged to show a protester drinking alcohol in a mosque turned out to show him drinking Coca-Cola and there were head-scarved women among the protesters in Taksim..."

If Lordo will allow...

Almost all the protests and the Erdogan Regime's overreaction has been in Ankara. A place tonight of protest, barricades and water canon.

Here's indy media with a report on the last few hours ...

00.46: [Ankara] Along the Dikmen Street a lot of barricades have been formed. In the front of the barricades thousands of people are still protesting by playing on drums, pots and pans, and shouting slogans. The police is waiting at the junction at the police station.
00.16: [Ankara] While the protestors were setting up the barricades, a resident from Dikmen came along with a car and told them that they could use the broken-down car as a barricade. The crowd applauded and cheered up and put the car on the corner of Dikmen and Sinan Street as a barricade Photo.
00.00: ---- 24.6.2013 ----------------
23.57: [Ankara] The supporter group of BJK (Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club, notably including the Beşiktaş football club) çArşı stands with the people of Dikmen (District). The crowd greeted the group with applauses. The members of Ankaragücü Sokak Grubu (Ankaragücü Street Group) shouted "The one who robs the hospitals and parents, puts workers and white-collars (T/N: people working in offices) in a difficult position, is the one who is the servant of US, Tayyip Erdoğan" in Dikmen.
23.25: [Ankara] Residents of Dikmen are still waiting at the barricades.
23.08: [Ankara] The Police tries to clear the barricades and is escalating the situation. The police station is full with water canons, armed police cars and riot police.
22.54: [Ankara] The people have built barricades and set them on fire. The fire lightens up the street. Photo
22.47: [Ankara] More than 10.000 people marching on Dikmen Street.

I naturally don't want to wish any ill on the unarmed civilians of the secularist movement and hope they do stay safe without anymore loss of life etc etc but i hope the entire country of Turkey implodes on itself.

Just partition the country and be done with it.

The lawyer acting for the family of Ethem Sarısülük, pictured being murdered in cold blood above, has requested that the police make the name of the officer who committed the murder - he is still currently actively serving in this capacity! - and his gun available. Information about this officer and his gun have now apparently been passed on to the public prosecutor's office.

The policeman who allegedly killed Ethem Sarısülük was brought before Ankara Penal Court of the peace No. 13, charged with “Causing death by exceeding the bounds of legitimate self-defence", and was released pending trial.
(Release pending trial is virtually unheard of in murder cases in Turkey.)

Yes, the chances of this victim's poor family seeing justice must be pretty remote.

The BBC in GB has issued a statement condemning attacks on its journalists by the Erdogan Regime.

It's alleged that a BBC journo covering events in Turkey, Selin Girit, has been subjected to a Twitter campaign of threats and intimidation started and sustained by the Mayor Ibrahim Melih Gokcek.

Here's a few sentences from the BBC...

..."The BBC says it is "very concerned" by a campaign by the Turkish authorities to "intimidate its journalists".

In a statement, the corporation says one reporter has been "attacked on social media by the mayor of Ankara for her coverage of the current protests".

On Sunday, Mayor Ibrahim Melih Gokcek described BBC Turkish reporter Selin Girit as an "English agent", launching a campaign against her on Twitter.

This triggered a counter-campaign which became Turkey's most trending topic..."

The dead man's family, arguing that the policeman's release demonstrates that there is no effective domestic remedy, have said that they are going to the European Court of Human Rights.

The following demonstration took place on the Asian side of Istanbul yesterday in protest against the court decision to release the policeman:

The newspaper report about this does not mention any police intervention, interestingly.
