Another form of protest hits the streets of Istanbul, one that might soon be picked up in other towns in Turkey.

(The very loud over-dressed lady that appears later on is clearly a supporter of Erdogan)

aha..!! this revolution in Turkey is about who controls the "pu@#Ssy"

" ..For both Muslim and secular nationalists, White says, there is a “clear link between sexual purity and national honor … [a] discursive association between the penetrability of national boundaries, female sexual vulnerability, and male sexual agency.” As the dreadful “journalist” Fatih Altaylı wrote in a 2008 column: “Maybe you are not aware of the fact that the Turkish army is also protecting what is between a woman’s legs.."

Between October 2011 and December 2012, the Turkish state purchased 8,396,992 dollars' worth of tear gas canisters and plastic bullets, along with devices for launching these, from the company 'Nonlethal* Technologies' in Pennsylvania, USA. A cynic might well wonder if they have seen these protests coming for some time.

* These so-called 'non-lethal technologies' are responsible for the death of four people in the course of the Gezi Park protests.

The death toll is rising

Postby Tim Drayton » Sat Jun 22, 2013 10:07 am

Sadly, there may be yet another death. First year university student, Ali İsmail Korkmaz (below), participated in a demonstration in support of the Gezi Park protests in the city of Eskişehir on 2 June. In the face of a chemical attack using Nonlethal Technologies' lethal weapons, he took refuge in a side street where he was set upon and beaten unconscious by a group of 5-6 people dressed in civilian clothing. He was later found to be suffering from cerebral hemorrhage and is now fighting for his life.

A group of people combine to form the words reading "Hang on in there, Ali" in a park in Eskişehir.

I hope that one day there will be a full and comprehensive investigation into all of these events, and then we will know.

A very old friend of ours reports elsewhere that there's a very large crowd marching towards Taksim, Istanbul, at the mo.

Confirmed by indymedia...

19.00: [Istanbul] Thousands arrive in Taksim: "Everywhere Taksim, everywhere resistance!"
18.48: [Istanbul] Thousands are marching in İstiklal avenue including the members of Halkevleri and a thousand people from Kadıköy carrying banners that read "Resist Kadıköy" are chanting "United against fascism", "Tayyip resign", "Let's see you throw tear gas. Take off your helmet, drop the baton and let's see who's the man". The mass gathered in front of the Emek (Labor) movie theater applauding. Photo
18.45: [Istanbul] Crowds started to arrive at Taksim Square. Thousands carrying carnations chant "Government resign" and "United against fascism."

Livestreams showing thousands packed in to Taksim.

'police" keeping their distance.

In last few minutes...

"police" have moved to break up the peaceful assembly in Taksim.

TOMAs are in use again.
