Despite the arrests (for resisting the police by standing still and not using violence!!!), according to these photographs in Radıkal, the standing in silence protests are continuing.

Five MPs from the pro-Kurdish BDP party also stood for five minutes in parliament in an expression of support.

Who on earth would want to move to CY's second dustiest and crappiest village...??? ... oh, someone associated with the no.1 worse village on CY.

Anyway,

Everywhere is Taksim. Everywhere is Resistance... including here in London.

This a solidarity march of some 2,000 from Haringey to Wood Green, this past Saturday...

This afternoon CHP member of parliament, Mahmut Tanal, and a group of another 20 people including lawyers, staged a standing still protest in the hall of Çağlayan Judicial Complex, the scene of an incident last week when lawyers, who were simply exercising their basic human right to stage a peaceful; protest, were dragged along the ground, handcuffed and arrested by police.

Three women stood still in Taksim Square from yesterday evening until dawn. One of them remained on her feet until she fainted.

Coming back to the police violence for a mo...

The UN Commissioner for Human Rights has joined in questioning the very heavy action...

(From CNN...)

..."U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay on Tuesday expressed concern about the tactics used by security forces against demonstrators.

"I am particularly concerned about allegations of excessive use of force by police against peaceful groups of protesters as this may have resulted in serious damage to health," she said in a statement issued from Geneva.

"Reports that tear gas canisters and pepper spray were fired at people from close range, or into closed spaces, and the alleged misuse of rubber bullets, need to be promptly, effectively, credibly and transparently investigated," Pillay said, noting that "the atmosphere is still clearly highly combustible..."
