Incidentally, I got a reply to an e-mail I sent to Çapul TV, pointing out that they seemed to be saying yesterday that the second delegation to the prime minister did not represent them, either, but today they were discussing the proposals that it brought back:

Yesterday evening a delegation of the resistance’s legitimate platform, Taksim Solidarity, went to the Prime Minister’s Office. So this was a second delegation. And the meeting between this delegation and the Prime Minister lasted until four in the morning. The delegation whose proposals as brought back are being debated is this second delegation. A delegation that came directly from the area of resistance and was authorised to represent the area of resistance. And this delegation did not go to negotiate on our behalf but, on the contrary, to negotiate and to pass on the information there to the resisters in Taksim. In solidarity.

It is worth noting that only two members of the delegation were from Taksim Solidarity, but it is nice that they answered, anyhow.

Thanks for raising this point again that I made a few days ago. If the police crack, what else does the regime have up its sleeve? In fact, this may be why they are starting to take a 'half step backwards.'

Apologies to TD ...as he says, he did raise this issue several days ago... and respect to TD for keeping us informed in the many posts above.

No problem. It is a valid point. In fact, it was interesting to note that things went quiet over the weekend, followed by that renewed police onslaught on Monday morning. Perhaps they decided to let them have the weekend off before putting them through more of this again. You certainly cannot do 56 hours of solid riot duty.

Well, the "police" in Istanbul will be getting some rest cos although there are reports of large gatherings there and in other towns, things are very peaceful, except in Ankara where there are reports of clashes, gassings etc...

Indy media report...

01.05: [Ankara] A majority of the clashes stopped. One part of the crowd dispersed, while another part withdrew into the Kugulu Park.
00.50: [Ankara] Protesters report that the police is taking people in custody around Otel 2000 (Hotel 2000) in Bestekar Sokak (street) and around Tunus Street.
00.44: [Ankara] Lots of teargas have been thrown at Tunalı Hilmi Avenue as well.
00.34: [Ankara] There are clashes at Tunus Avenue and Bestekar Street.
00.29: [Ankara] The crowd, who had retreated after the first police attack regrouped. Police attacked them with tear gas again. Two armored police vehicles entered the Kennedy Street.
00.15: [Ankara] It has become a routine for the Ankara police to prevent its people from exercising their democratic rights. The police again started attacking hundreds of people who came together at Kennedy Street about just an hour ago.

... and in other news...

BBC has suspended an association with Turkish TV Channel NTV

The GB BBC announced on Friday it has suspended its partnership with Turkey's private NTV channel after it pulled a programme on press freedom and the anti-government protests.
NTV decided not to broadcast an edition of the BBC programme Dunya Gundemi (World Agenda) on Friday which included an item on the initial failure of mainstream Turkish media to cover the protests, a spokewoman for the British broadcaster told AFP.

... and a report of trouble in Antakya (down near the Syrian border)...

02.28: [Antakya] The armored vehicles are in the back streets in Antakya. The attacks with tear gas continue.

return back home.............

A Democracy without freepress is like a plant without water. still don't get objective reports about Gezi Park. yesterday BBC stopped the cooperation with Turkish NTV. They have been manipulating or ignoring anti government news pieces all along. It was about time BBC kept it's own reputation up.
Still CNN Türk carries the CNN unworthy. And government owned TRT intensively spreads wrong news.
And there are much more channels.
The only government critical ones (I wouldn't call them objective either) get high penalties from the government for weird reasons. As long as this wont change most voters will continue to be fooled by politicians and Gezi Park will be in their eyes terrorists that drink in mosques and beat up women with headscarves.
Terrible lies are spread……………

people are confused....life still goes on smoothly in Istanbul...even Protestors are divided between them self............

Gezi Park has already won two great victories: destroying Erdogan's international designs and alienating any Turkish liberals; he's basically reduced to just rallying his base now..........

The problem as I see it, is that to move forward from here there needs to be some proper leadership. But I'm not as optimistic that there is any organization that can bring together the liberal democrats, the Kemalists, the Kurds and the dozens of others groups who have brought their support...and there are more and more weirs people at Gezi Park. Crazy ones too. A missing leader is what makes the whole movement extremely weak now............

Turkish health ministry asked the chamber of doctors to send them a list of doctors who did first aid for thousands at Gezi park to start to investigate against those actions. In a press conference yesterday they said "they rejected to give the names and are proud they were able to help them. In fact if they would not help it would have been a crime and that the government has to be investigated for not providing first aid. They left the people to die after brutal police attacks..................strange politicians are drives u mad too.........

will go to Istanbul very soon( 20-22 june) again hoping upto that time everything will be ok....and democracy will win.....

On the basis of discussions lasting eight hours,Taksim Solidarity has, following yesterday’s debates in seven separate forums in Gezi Park, announced a new road map. The tents of various groups, political parties, trade unions and organisations will be removed from Gezi Park and the Taksim Solidarity struggle will be continued from watch tents. However, there will be no interference with the tents used to house individuals, who will be free to continue to exercise their free will to pitch tents in a public space. It is planned to remove the barricades around Gezi Park. It has also been decided to remove all banners from Gezi Park.

Some parties and organisations have already started to lift their tents and banners.
