Just for Vordo... 2 meetings with 2 diff sets of people over 2 days...

Published by Reuters 33 mins ago...

...Reuters) - Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and the governor of Istanbul made what appeared to be final efforts to end two weeks of anti-government unrest by negotiation on Friday, meeting opponents of controversial plans to redevelop a city park.

Erdogan met a delegation mostly made up of actors and artists but also including two members of the umbrella protest group Taksim Solidarity, hours after saying his patience had run out and warning protesters occupying Gezi Park to leave...

and

...Erdogan met an earlier group of academics, artists and students who support the Gezi Park protests on Wednesday and AK Party Deputy Chairman Huseyin Celik said they discussed the possibility of a referendum on the plans to build on the park...

Err and if Lordo doesn't mind... this is deffo worth a look at.

It's aerial footage of Taksim Square earlier in the week.

It's been shot from a remote-controlled video camera on a small helicopter controlled from the ground by protesters. The "police" shot the model chopper down, completely wrecking it but the footage had been down-loaded.

Remarkable stuff... >>> http://vimeo.com/68229603

Some pretty decent sources are saying that Erdy is meeting with reps of the protesters... the Gezi Solidarity group, in a last ditch attempt to draw away from a confrontation and save face.

This was just a propaganda exercise and I am sad to see that even the BBC has accepted this uncritically. In fact, Erdoğan gathered together two groups of semi-celebrities whose connection with the protest movement is spurious and sat down and talked to them on two consecutive days, with the claim, through the media under the regime's control, that these were 'talks with the protestors'. The protestors themselves on their Çapul TV station broadcasting live from Gezi Park on www.capul.tv say that these people have no authority to speak on their behalf and the delegation that they recognise is the group of people who met with acting Prime-MInister Bülent Arınç on 5 June and they stand by the clearly articulated set of demands that were raised at that meeting and were later made known in a public statement.

I am getting a bit confused now, because the group calling itself ‘Taksim Solidarity’ issued the following statement at 0700 this morning, after last night’s talks with the Prime Minister that broke up at 0330this morning:

Taksim Solidarity has until now taken all decisions with the participation of all of its components and the people. This evening, at the invitation of the Prime Minister, our demands, which we have shouted out for days in the streets and in the squares all over Turkey, were once gain put forward. From here on, as ever, all decisions about the process will be taken together. After our friends have returned to Taksim, more detailed information will be shared about the meeting.

Are these basically the same people who are broadcasting from the park as Çapul TV?
The latter were definitely distancing themselves from the talks yesterday evening, and are not on air at the moment today.

Çapul TV is now broadcasting, and they say that the proposals emanating from the meeting with the prime minister are now being discussed in seven different groups.
