Not sure the army will support him. I mean they can say this is not what military should do 'get involved in politics'...

I'm not sure the troops will obey him. Methinks another coup d'état is due.

The public has been seeking the answer to who the interest-rate lobby that Turkish Prime Minister blames for provoking the Gezi Park protests is, but even the government’s top economic figures and the country’s leading business people seem unable to reach a consensus on who this mysterious group of people is that has the power to mobilize thousands of people to march against government.

Even Turks don't understand each other anymore from the words that they make up.

Sabahat Akkiraz, a member of parliament for the main opposition CHP, addressed parliament wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the word “çapulcu” [looter], a word initially used by Erdoğan to describe the protestors and which the protestors have now adopted in an ironical manner to describe themselves.

Akkiraz sent the message “Greetings to the looters” from the podium.

The latest gem from Erdoğan

Şu anda çok enteresan. Aynen o Gezi Parkı çevrecilik adına, açık konuşacağım pislikten geçilmiyor. Sidik kokusundan geçilmiyor. Bir çoğu büyük abdestini oraya yapıyor. Samimi olanları kastetmiyorum. Bazı otellere gidip ihtiyaçlarını gideriyorlar. Orada her şey ücretsiz biliyorsunuz. Kaynağı enteresan. Her durum orada meşru. Bunu da güya çevrecilik adına yapıyorlar.
It is very ınterestıng at the moment. That very Gezi Park, in the name of environmentalism, and I will speak frankly, is buried in filth. It reeks of urine. Quite a lot of them do their number ones there. I am not referring to the genuine ones. Some of them go to hotels to answer calls of nature. You know, everything there is free. This comes from an interesting source. Everything goes there. And they are supposedly doing this in the name of environmentalism.

Here is a prediction.

The Istanbul 100 stock index will be trading at around 50,000 by the end of the quarter.

Practically halving in value from its all time/recent highs.

Well, even protesters have to relieve themselves occasionally.

This is a Press Release following a debate and wide ranging resolution in the Euro Parliament, quite rightly putting the blame for the unrest firmly on Mr Erdogan and on his curious view of democracy...

Unrest in Turkey: MEPs call for reconciliation and warn against harsh measures

MEPs are deeply concerned at the disproportionate and excessive use of force by Turkish police to break up peaceful and legitimate protests in Istanbul's Gezi Park. In a resolution voted by a show of hands on Thursday, they warn against the use of harsh measures against peaceful protesters and said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan must take a unifying and conciliatory position.

Those responsible for the police violence must be brought to justice, detained peaceful protestors immediately released and the victims compensated, MEPs say. While welcoming the moderate response to the protests by President Abdullah Gül and apologies by Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, they deplore the unwillingness of the Turkish government and Mr Erdogan to take steps towards reconciliation, to apologize and to understand the reactions of a segment of the Turkish population.

Inclusive society

The protesters increasingly feel that minority voices lack representation and parts of the Turkish population are dissatisfied with the recent lifestyle regulation, MEPs say. They stress that in an inclusive, pluralistic democracy, the majority has a responsibility to include opposition and civil society in the decision-making process.

The holding of peaceful and legitimate protests in itself testifies to the vibrancy of Turkish civil society but Turkey must further improve its democratic institutions, the rule of law and the observance of fundamental freedoms, MEPs say.

Expression and media must be free

MEPs are also concerned about the deterioration in press freedom, including acts of censorship and growing self-censorship within the Turkish media. Mainstream Turkish media remained silent about the demonstrations and Twitter users were arrested, MEPs note. They stress the importance of an independent press for a democratic society and the role of the judiciary in enhancing press freedom, citing the high number of journalists in prison and on trial.

... and this is the response from the ever-intransigent Caliph Erdogan...

I have just been watching Çapul TV again, and 24 hours have passed. Looks like you need a new Interior Minister, Recep abi.
