A friend reports cellphone/mobile phone service has been cut off in Istanbul and CCTV cameras are also off there.

Warns that we're in for a night of "evil happenings".

CNN International has been running continues "Breaking News" reporting, devoting all of their airtime on Istanbul for the last 3 hours with their own reporters on the ground in Istanbul, broadcasting live pictures all around the world. This has all the hallmarks of a "Turkish Spring", no matter what others may want to call it.

Kiks, I agree with this, it has gone on too long and too many injured for it just to fizzle out.

I hope your family over there will be ok. This has been a long time coming in Turkey when you get a dictator in power. Strange how your best mate (aka VP) has made no comments or support for Erdo his idol ????

Is there an internet blackout in the occupied areas?

Do you think the occupation troops will be pulled back to Turkey to help Erdogan?

Thanks for your concern with my sisters family in Turkey, but they will be OK. I talk with them regularly. They have more than just the Turkish citizenship, should they require any foreign diplomatic assistance in the event of things turning very ugly.

As for VP, the cat must have got his tongue!

The regulator of television in Turkey has fined several TV stations for highlighting the protest events of the past few days.

In the words of a friend...

..."The Radio and Television Supreme Council has fined TV stations that highlighted the protests has fined Ulusal TV, Halk TV, Cem TV and EM Tv on the grounds of encouraging public violence.
The decision was reached in RTUK's meeting yesterday. The decision alleged that the TV channels have violated the broadcasting service principles by broadcasting programs that may be detrimental to children's and youth's physical, psychological, and ethical development and decided on imposing fines on this basis."...

So lest CF be similarly penalised ... here's a picky of some Penguins...
