20.06 In response to a police attack on protestors Taksim Square, the crowd has moved off in the direction of Harbiye.

There are said to have been at least 11 arrests already in Taksim.

20.11 Clashes continue in front of Taksim First Aid Hospital.

20.08 Republican People’s Party Youth Wing Central Committee member Recep Karakoç has been arrested.

It seems that the police launched their attack in Ankara after the crowd decided to leave the park in which it had assembled and march on Kızılay Square. Serious clashes are currently taking place.

Large numbers of arrests have now been made in Istanbul. Many of the arrests are reported to have been made by persons in plain clothes, and there is a suspicion that they may not all be policemen.

21:45 Istanbul Bar Association Board of Directors' member Hasan Kılıç' says that the number of arrests [in Taksim] reported to the bar association so far is 31, three of them lawyers.
