Some serious injuries though that are not laughing matters.

You gotto feel for this poor woman. Got hit with a police tear gas canister.
Fractured skull, critical.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Erdogan were to lose power before Assad? :D

Very possible. Unlike ErdoCunt, Assad was very popular and had powerful allies so I don’t expect Erdo (Billy no mates) to last 6 months if this continues and fatalities start to mount.

Also read of Erdogan's plans to build a third bridge over the Bosporus without debate, announced this week. The bridge was apparently given the name of ‘Sultan Selim The Grim’ :

..the cruelest adversary of Alevis and Shiites in Ottoman history. The conqueror of Egypt, the powerful sultan is known for the massacres of tens of thousands of Anatolian Alevis prior to and after his war against Iran... It is not hard to guess how offending the choice of Selim’s name is for the Alevi community, about 10% of the population that is still awaiting an official acknowledgement of its religious identity and worship rights.

Yes, it was to mark their great moment in history - the fall of Constantinople May 29th 1453.

Well why should we and Cy care...???, well put it this way file...

There is a very sizeable, very liberal, very western-looking Opposition in Turkey who are pissed off with the tyranny of Erdogan's nationalist, neo-ottoman, islamist regime and they are taking to the streets of Turkey.

Places like FB and Twitter are awash that these protests (which are far more than just over a public park) are spreading... and by tonight there'll be in every large Turkish city... and perhaps elsewhere... 8)

yes, we are all loathing the Tyranny of Erdogans neo-ottomanisms. Do these western-looking, very liberal Turks recognise the occupation and support the withdrawal of Turkish troops and Turkish settlers from Cyprus?

He has 15 years worth of pepper spray in stock and the army onside. A calamity will come to the country first, then he will go out like Gaddafi, Mubarak, Hussein and Bin Laden while trying to take down Assad. He is a crackpot dictator.

Regardless of the outcome of the current protests, the damage to Erdogan’s reputation has been done:

'Turkey's Halo Has Slipped'

The brutal reaction of Turkish police to the Occupy Gezi protests in Istanbul could have permanently damaged the country's reputation, a leading expert on the region has warned.

Fadi Hakura, Chatham House's Turkey analyst, told The Huffington Post UK that the "halo had slipped" from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government in the wake of the violence, and the use of tear gas and water canons by police.

"No doubt, the halo that the government had in the eyes of its allies, has been greatly diminished," he said.

"The Turkish government has consistently protested the lack of human rights and democracy in Syria. And it is not practicing what it preaches, in its own backyard.

"This has greatly undermined Turkey's image which the government has fostered over the last three years. These images have been broadcast worldwide."
