Postby miltiades » Wed May 29, 2013 4:02 pm

I know that this subject was covered perhaps on numerous occasions.
I have a brand new Smart TV and I'm wondering if it will work in Cyprus.
Any help ?

Amazon uk, surely covers UK TVs which I believe not to be compatible with Cypriot system.
Am I wrong ?

Normally UK TVs, although will work will not give you sound. It needs a modification that is easily done. However many of the newer TVs are multi system and would be OK. In addition it needs to be MPEG4 compatible, otherwise you will need to buy a separate decoder box to connect to receive the digital transmission.

If you choose to get one here, any of the larger stores, Electroline, Stephanides, Fournaris are all suitable outlets.

Don't forget though, if you watch UK TV, your best bet is Filmon through the internet.

Don't be silly. They are all compatible to Cyprus standards.

I bought two TVs (LED) in the last 3 years from them, and most of my friends did the same. Never had problems and you don't have to replace the plug.

Shipping is usually 15 euro (depends on the TV size). If you buy a TV from a local shop it will cost you X2.

Unfortunately I remember them!

I even remember when BBC2 started colour test transmissions in the mid 60's showing documentaries about the Aswan dam and the like!

But I don't remember it as well as I used to!

Milti’s TV only has two buttons…

Channel #1: “Coronation Street”

Channel #2: “Crossroads”

Occasionally he gets electromagnetic interference from his hearing aid recharger and is able to watch “Opportunity Knocks”.
