To me, it seems that Cyprus's Turkish problem will not be resolved through reasoning with the Turks. The past 40 years, to the present day, proves this.

The UN has been telling Turkey (you?) to get out of Cyprus for the past 40 years. Its Turkeys intransigence that has perpetuated the problem because she does not accept it. The occupation is illegal and the Turkish side does not recognize anything other than an fascist apartheid system of governance, hypocrisy, ethnic cleansing, occupation and theft.
You cant negotiate with fascist terrorists and the TC's are nearly extinct.
