Will the widespread unrest in France involving the minority and predominantly Muslim community have any effect in finding a solution to the Cyprus problem?
My gut feeling is that it will harden French opposition to allowing Turkey into the EU. From what I have read, it seems that the average Frenchman is not in favor of liberal and "conciliatory" measures toward the African/Muslim people living in their midst. The French were already among the most outspoken against EU membership for Turkey.
This may hurt efforts for a Cyprus settlement as Turkey may see her EU dream fading faster into the sunset. EU leverage will be lost.
