Of course Turkey is suffocating the TCs by them selling everything made in Turkey to the "trnc" and buy very very little from the north in return, and that's because there is very very little the north have to sell to anyone. All the major industries and hotels and casinos in the north are all run by the Turks. The TCs are just the servants to Turkey. The TCs have an open market to Turkey of 75 million with it's supposedly vibrant and booming economy (so we have been told by you and likes) and yet the most the north can sell to Turkey is about 40+ million dollars worth a year. What's that all about? Just what the hell do you expect to sell to the rest of the world anyway, and if you do have anything worth while selling to the rest of the world, you can do so through the RoC. The RoC does not need to control what goes on in the illegal "trnc". They ONLY want to prevent the "trnc" from what it really wants, that's all, and so far, the RoC has done pretty good job of it.
