What was your 'lifetime' ban for?
Water under the bridge!!
Didn't we get on well ? Maybe you were one of those mainland Greeks, I don't generally get on with them as I consider the G/Cs far superior to them!!!
No, I was one of the Greek Cypriots you didn't like because I refused to drop the prefix.
I did wonder what happened to you. Why were you banned?
My ban was imposed after I posted my last post in early February 2011.The ban was imposed after uncomplimentary words directed at the powers to be.
By the way I have never dropped the prefix, I just believe in the Cypriot nation and consider my self above all else a Cypriot and not a Greek, in the same fashion that my forefathers behaved as Paphites, Platrides and not kalamarades.Im proud of my Cypriot ancestry and I consider Cyprus as my one and only true motherland.
Miltiades, your problem, as well as that of many others, has always been to associate being "Greek" exclusively with the modern Greek state. Greek Cypriots were Greek before modern Greece came into existence. I never regarded the terms as mutually exclusive. Politics and the balance of power in the region dictated that Cyprus was never united with the modern Greek state, but that does not alter the realities. We are of course Cypriots, but our Greek heritage is undeniable amongst the sane.
Simon, I have had a belly full of debates concerning Greece, Cyprus etc. Im 67 years old and have been around the block more than once or twice.
As far as I'm concerned, although the mainland Greeks first came to Cyprus some 3,500 years, there was already a Cypriot race in existence, who is to say that either you or I are descendants of the Greeks. I agree that much of the Cypriot culture resembles that of Greece, but we are Cypriots in our own right. This foreign country, Greece, has brought nothing but pain and misery to our people, first they refused Cyprus on a plate when Britain offered it, then they, and they alone, caused Cyprus's major catastrophe, the invasion and continued part occupation of our northern parts, its the ideology that ultimately brought this disaster on our island, the same ideology that has catapulted Cyprus from a thriving economy to a pauper state. Greece, for the Greeks for the Christians, what absolute rubbish.
Long may Cyprus live as an independent nation, related to Greece but not married to Greece.
My allegiance is to my one and only one motherland, my beloved Cyprus, my adorable Stroumbi the Great !!
