To all the the GC/TC...Equality doesnt equal Justice

..The story is recounted in 1Kings 3:16-28. Two young women who lived in the same house and who both had an infant son came to Solomon for a judgment. One of the women claimed that the other, after accidentally smothering her own son while sleeping, had exchanged the two children to make it appear that the living child was hers. The other woman denied this and so both women claimed to be the mother of the living son and said that the dead boy belonged to the other.

After some deliberation, King Solomon called for a sword to be brought before him. He declared that there was only one fair solution: the live son must be split in two, each woman receiving half of the child. The liar, in her bitter jealousy, exclaimed, "It shall be neither mine nor yours—divide it!" However, upon hearing this terrible verdict, the boy's true mother cried out, "Oh Lord, give the baby to her, just don't kill him!" The king gave the baby to the real mother. King Solomon's judgment became known throughout all of Israel and was considered an example of profound wisdom...

Both GC/TC need to find in themselves the wisdom of King Solomon, this section of the Bible can be very well be applied to Cyprus. Splitting Cyprus in two will not give the Cypriots what they are looking for...

yes, maybe those that call for the baby to be "cut in half" think about this because it this gives us an insight into what is likely to come to pass.

let the LORD's will be done, not ours.

Our wise former President Tassos Papadopoulos first used this analogy in his speech:

PRESIDENT Tassos Papadopoulos yesterday criticised those involved in the Cyprus peace talks for “following the seemingly easy and most convenient recipe”

He said that “in the face of divergent views, [foreign mediators] proposed a solution by cutting differences in the middle.” The President was speaking at a conference on federalism organised by the Belgian governments, in Brussels.

Papadopoulos did not name names but referred to “those assigned with the historical and heavy task of finding and proposing a balanced and functional compromise in the light of opposing aims and policies.”

“But as the bible teaches us,” he concluded his speech, “the solution found by wise King Solomon of cutting the baby in two, is definitely not the right or best solution. Certainly not for the ‘baby’.”

It is so apt!

to try and take this one step further, in order for the baby(Cyprus) not to be cut in half through a partition or Confederation, justice has to be introduced into the Cypriot ethos.

This particular section on King Solomon's form of justice also can be applied to Cyprus' justice system. If one chooses to think about the Annan plan, the Reforming the judicial system and bringing it up to the point where a Tc is guaranteed "equality" under the law. And Cypriot politicians would finally have an answer to the Tc request of political equality. A justice system thats efficient and not capricious. One that can be updated and modernized easily. Where its citizens dont have to wait for years to recieve justice but rather a few weeks. Equality through justice.

But the mother orginally wanted to give the baby away alltogether. the analogy does not hold up Cyprus is not a baby if it is split into it will survive as has been the case fo 50 years. You can compare Cyprus to a marriage, neither party wants to remainmarried to the other so they should separate and split their property.

This was one of these Turkish underage arranged forced marriages.

many would be happy to see the back of you but I don't think you are entitled to anything for committing adultery and theft. We should take out an injunction on your ass. Go back to your mothers bitch.

A divorce is a divorce both parties are entitled to a fair deal. If we are to throw around insults you will have to pay for the beatings you gave me and the fact that you wanted to sell me no give me away to Greek men.

Concentrate on the basic principles and dont cloud the issue we were married broke up and now it time to make it official, I have 37% and you have 63% of our joint wealth.
