Of course he can. The BBF was a Makarios suggestion for the sake of goodwill I think (first) back in 1975, and one can withdraw a suggestion just as easy as it was made.

Makarios' suggestion was based on cantons, it has nothing to do with with what the Tc are asking for now, which is a continuous chunk of Cyprus

you mean like 1963 - did he consider blockades too. like hell.

this was agreed after 74 - to even think that he can get back to pr 74 is madness. Dengtash would never agreed to that. Of course having two cantons one gc and one tc does make sense.

what was agreed after 74 is cantons and thats the implied suggestion by Makarios. Without the cantons(which will be spread out throughout Cyprus) how could Makarios have agreed to that when that would mean the GC refugees couldnt reclaim their properties?

for the same reason he did not agree with the 1972 agreement where 30% was going to be reduced to 20% and all 13 agreements Makarios wanted in 1973 plus everyone return to their homes he was able to refuse. who said he cared about cypriots. he was a megalomaniac and all he cared about was his power.
