New EU sponsored website, Lemon.cy

Postby Jerry » Sat May 11, 2013 11:52 am

The European Commission has set up a website with reports and opinions from all over Cyprus. http://lemoncy.eu/index.php?lang=lan-en

I wonder how the usual suspects will view it as it seems to be quite happy to publish news and views that criticize the "trnc" authorities and Turkey. Badly translated but interesting by Ayşemden Akın and Sinan Dirlik.
And this, http://lemoncy.eu/news_detail.php?Vid=83

For an EU sponsored site it is a pretty crap site. What waste on money.
Have read the comments y those so called journalists or whatever the purport to be.
Jesus, if this is the best the EU can do, they have lost the plot. Obviously written by cheap Turkish web writer and the contact us in on the Turkish side with Turkish phone number. Bi-communal, yeah, and I am Elvis Presley. Shish!

Good news.

It features a story which caught the eye last week covering statements by a so-called "minister" of the Fundamental Islamic Regime of "trnc", which he now denies making even though his words were recorded...

“We have his voice recorded”

NICOSIA - Following his interview published in Akit Newspaper, Nicosia “mp” and the former “minister of transportation and public works” Hasan Taçoy issued a written statement saying that his words were misunderstood and distorted. Taçoy said “Most of the statements in the interview does not belong to me. I read it with sadness. It is wrong to claim that I said ‘we want form a society which goes to the mosque, reads the Kuran and fasts’”.
However, the Editor in Chief of Akit Newspaper told Turkish Cypriot Haberdar Gazetesi that they had Mr Taçoy’s on record and that they were behind their story.

Yes I agree the journalism and translation is a bit crap to say the least but they don't seem to be too happy with their lot or Turkey. It will be interesting to see, since it appears to be based in the north, how long the "trnc" will allow it to continue there.

An awful lot of criticism of the Rubbish Regime is reported in the press of the Occupied Areas but the reports ain't in English... pain in the bum to find and then translate the dirt of "trnc" into reasonable English and get the rubbish out to a wider audience so think this'll be a useful contribution.

The PIO of the Republic do a daily precis in English of what is reported in the papers up there but whoever does it is too amateurish, misses a lot of opportunities and in the main merely lazily regurgitates the propaganda of "trnc".

Agreed Bill, it's better that outsiders see what is going on in the occupied territories from an EU sponsored site than rely on the too frequent spoutings of the Turk hating fanatics of Cyprus Forum. Good job Lemon.cy doesn't have a comments facility, EU would have to close it down.

Nor me. I hate what Turkey, fanatic Turks and Turkish Cypriots like Denktash, Erdo, Ecevit, have done to Cyprus.

How on earth those who hate all Turks ever expect a solution to the Cyprus Problem is beyond me. It's an unfortunate fact of life but, like it or not, we have to talk to these people if we ever want a settlement.

I'm not too keen on the carpetbaggers either, in fact I despise the opportunist scum.
