Greeks are like that… what they lack in skill and knowledge, they more than make up for with fairy tales and debauchery.

Turks are also very similar although they also tend to add threats into it all.

Same mother if you ask me… but maybe a different father.

Well, it's not a big surprise that you tend to stretch facts, GIG.

someone should nominate her for President of Cyprus. Ronald Reagan was known as the teflon President, Thatcher the Iron Lady,Bill Clinton was slick Willy, Richard Nixon was tricky dicky and GreekislandGirl could be known as "slick slippery GIG"....

What a shame you butted in to turn it personal rather than allow the debate intended to follow.

How does the full quote make any difference to what is under discussion? Never mind; you don't know because it's the assumption behind GR!'s statement I have been following for a while which matters.

Unfortunately, I was hoping GR! would have provided the full quote, himself, because I would like to extract his logic behind assuming Greece would open chapters for Turkey (that being a slur as far as GR! was concerned) and his own mitigating circumstances for offering a pipeline to Turkey.

Why would it be wrong if Greece were to open chapters, if it did a deal similar to what you, GR!, propose for the pipeline?

(Personally, I don't think Greece will, but you accused them and to me it can only be in similar vein to your proposal for a pipeline. Or are you so singularly clever in dealing with the Turks?)

What debate?

I would’ve simply wrapped it up in one by pretty much repeating what I have felt for a long time… that Cyprus has a great opportunity to liberate her enslaved territory in return for a lucrative business deal with the occupier.

(Fine. I guessed as much. The rest of the quote was known to both of us. )

In wrapping up; it's OK for you to negotiate deals - unfreeze relationships - with Turkey in exchange for (hopefully) liberation but somehow it's laughable to you if Greece were to do the same? Open chapters. Or are you now going to carry on with some further, latent, accusation?

On the matter of opening Chapters in Turkey's rubbish attempt to join the Union...

Just last week CY's very good friend and supporter ( ), Frau Merkel said Nein...

... 'til Turkey meets its obligations under the Ankara Protocol and does such things as normalising relations with the Republic, opening up air-space and ports etc.

Greece doesn’t have enslaved territory that would warrant doing deals with the devil for her personal gain.

So if Greece is the Cyprus ally that you so often proclaim, she will only suggest opening chapters subject to major benefits for Cyprus and certainly not to appease Turkey or to show off in the EU as I SUSPECT she will do.

I have a gut feeling she will bitterly disappoint you.

BUT, it’s all speculation for now so let us “rendezvous” in a year for this!
