"It will take years of hardship and painful structural reforms before Cyprus’s GDP returns to anywhere near its level before the bail-out. Unlike the rest of the euro zone’s beleaguered periphery, however, Cyprus has two promising sources of growth waiting to be tapped. One is the recently discovered Aphrodite gasfield in the eastern Mediterranean. The other is its tourism industry, which is underdeveloped and has plenty of scope for foreign investment. The best way for Cyprus to exploit both as fast as possible would be to patch up its 40-year-old division."
I think Cyprus will recover much sooner that you would hope !
what on earth gave you the idea that i was hoping that the current problem would last as long as possible. i have friends and relatives who affected by all this on a personal note never mind the empathy i feel for all decent cypriots. what i cant stand is all the fanatic swine who have brought us to this point.
I apologize for misinterpreting your comments, I also agree with you that the fanatics, on both sides I might add, have caused all of Cyprus's political problems.
Corruption also, again on both sides, is responsible for given Cyprus a bad name. Just look at the treatment of ex pats who purchased on both sides, more so in the occupied parts. Exploited, conned, suffocated by a corrupt judicial system.

I'm also particularly pleased to have noted your comments of your love for Cyprus as a Turkish speaking Cypriot.
Sir, Cyprus is a wonderful island and its people are friendly, hospitable, industrious hard working family folk.
I do not differentiate between any Cypriots, what I do find objectionable is the large number from both sides who have shown total disrespect for their own nation and embraced either of the two foreign countries.Undoubtedly the major contributory factor of the current division of the island.
I'm sorry to note that animosity exists amongst two wonderful people, the G/Cs and the T/Cs.
