Indeed. Just leave it some food and drink, tickle it under the chin, stroke its tummy....rescue it from the daughter who wants to dress it up and put in the toy pram....

Just wondering how our dog will react. Normally he is ok once he knows a cat is officially allowed in. On one occasion he even took his favourite toy and dropped it for the cat to play with. Our current moggy is however showing signs of jealousy...

Yikes ... jealous dogs and new cats is not good news. You might need to visibly feed the cat first and the dog second to put the dog back in its (lower) place. Lots of stroking the cat and including the dog works too as reinforcement. But the dog has to accept he is lower in the pecking order otherwise he will eliminate what he thinks is competition.

Good luck. Love cats soooo much. (Dogs second.) :D

At one point, I had three cats and two dogs.

Its quite easy to get a dog to accept another cat in the pack.....if you are feeling slightly Terry Nutkins. Ive had ferals turn into sweet adorable things with a wee bit of patience.

One of my cats spent two weeks glued to the seat of a dining chair, whilst spitting and thumping the head of a pure white kitten that only wanted to play. That kitten ended up being the old man of the house, and has since seen in two cats and two dogs(or seen off).

Sadly(as all my furry friends grew old and passed away) I only have one feline friend and one canine friend left in the house now.....and they are currently asleep in their usual place.....with the cat having the majority of the dogs bed, and the dog sulking like a pansy

It helps when both are male. Female cats and dogs are serious hard work!

Have just put a huge turkey bone in our cat's bowl ... he doesn't look impressed.
