Pizza is something I’d make fresh at home… not something I’d go to a restaurant for!

When I was in Cyprus in 1989/90 the only fast food chain I recognized from North America was the Dairy Queen Brazier in Nicosia.
For pizza two local Nicosia pizza places I remember were Toronto Pizza & Ontario Pizza. Both ran by locals who had spent time in Ontario, Canada.
Are either of these still going?
Anyone else remember them?

Yes they are still there, and they still offer Canadian style pizza. Probably as bad as in Canada.

Nowadays, one can eat real Italian style pizza, but it's expensive.

...lol, back then, (actually before), Windsor, Ontario, had the largest population of Italians per capita in North America; it would be natural that in a city that is Cosmopolitan half way around the world to have at least one Pizza, "Canadian" (especially in Cyprus). The problem in Canada, when it comes to pizza, is that there are so many kinds to choose from that it can be overwhelming.

RW, I am afraid you are talking bollocks. In Italy there are many kinds as well, but they are all top quality.

And believe me souvlaki/sheftalia made in Cyprus will always be better than the one found in pricey 'Greek/Cypriot' restaurants in Canada. The same goes for pizza.

The place I posted above is really good. Hopefully next time I am there they will offer me a discount for promoting it.

...i don't disagree with you kuru, if i'm in Napoli, i'll enjoy what is, an authentic Italian pizza, but anywhere you go, isn't it the same, value and price go hand in hand.

You are probably right. Generalizations are a bad habit.

They all taste like shit so why don’t you make your own it’s so easy!

For the pizza base go to your local bakery and buy those thick round pitta breads. I think there’s 4 to a pack and they make a PERFECT base!

Get your fresh veges ready…

Green pepper
Onions
Mushrooms
Black olives
etc

…and of course grated cheddar cheese.

If you want to add meat to all that go ahead… I wouldn’t.

Not the Cyprus pitta bread... this is different.

This is soft, thick, round and one piece… looks more like a pancake .
