So, can we expect the Kurds to emerge from the current peace process with the Turks, with rights similar to what you are demanding in Cyprus today?

The kurds make up about 25% of Turkeys population. are they entitled to an autonomous region comprising 37.5% of Turkish territory? How about a veto power against the Legislative agenda of the majority Turks as a protective measure againts Turkish fanaticism? what about a 40% share of Turkeys gross domestic product so they can sit back, dictate and draw welfare checks from the state?

Remember, the Kurds did fight alongside Ataturk in the creation of the Turkish state (so you say)......

i see you have not found one document that mentions the word independence. i am a patient man i will wait as long as it takes.
cyprus has one connection to do with the kurds. roc gave apo a passport which belonged to a gc journalist. what kind of government commits such fraud. how is that for legality. you assholes.

once we solve the cyprus problem we can then look elsewhere for other problems.

People like Lordo and viewpoint are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem.

I think the same way about you, we will never find a solution as long as you are so bloody minded.

interesting that maximuimmu sees us as the problem but refuses to look in the mirror. he is a nice person really except that he has had a it brainwashing about who is repsonsible for the cyprus problem but i think we are making progress. all he has to do is find a single reference to the word independence from his eoka freaks and we shall have it resolved.

perhaps he can find the speech makarios made at the graveside of eka murderers saying how their struggle for independence has not finished.

come on maximuimmu you can do it you know you can.

He has so far not been able to provide us with a straight or satisfactory answer to any question. If you read back over this thread, more time has been spent trying to understand the definitions of his words, without any consistency.

other than that, it's mildly entertaining and comical reading. He is ducking and diving, filling his posts with historical distortions while passing on the burden of proof.

its all a smokescreen to try and legitimize illegitimate ways.

Nevertheless I appreciated his comments concerning his love for Cyprus as well as the predicament faced by the Kurdish minority in Turkey, as well the fact that Cyprus's political upheavals were caused by fanatics from both sides of the divide.
He has shown some prejudices concerning certain aspects, but reprimanded me when I suggested that he may well be happy with Cyprus's economic problems continuing for a long time, adding that he does not wish this at all as he has friends that are also affected.Just as you, I presume, were born in Cyprus of G/C parents so too was he of T/C parentage.
I make no distinction between the two major communities other than to condemn the continued occupation and turkification of the northern parts of Cyprus, I feel that many T/Cs feel the same way, indeed you only have to cast an eye on Africa or read Sevgul Uludag ( not sure about the spelling of her name) or Sever.
If the two communities were left alone, if preconceived ideologies were put on the back burner-with the gas off- Im certain an amicable solution would soon be worked out. There are realities to be faced and addressed by both sides, the T/Cs must accept that they constitute a minority, the G/Cs must also accept that minority rights must be put in place, they must also try and understand the fears that the T/Cs have if left unprotected following departure of the Turkish army. There are numerous extremists ready and waiting to cast their evil tendencies on innocent people.

its a fair assessment claret21,

the illegal settlers should be resettled in back in Turkey, everyone's property rights should be respected, and the Turkish military must withdraw and respect Cyprus sovereign integrity. Those TC's who identify more with Turkey can depart with them. Those TC's that choose to remain can take up their citizenship as equal individuals, in a democratic republic of Cyprus. This is an amicable, lasting and just solution.

The will of the majority must be respected and the rights of minorities protected.
