Messed up Im afraid so here it is again.
VP, having carried out a little research I have found the the T/Cs were between 18 and 20% of the population.
However you look at it the majority of the population, an irrefutable fact, are G/Cs.
Minorities and majorities exist in every country of the world including Turkey with a 20 million Kurdish minority.
In a civilized world one man standing on his own has as much rights as the man standing in a crowd
Equal rights are fundamental in any society, and all minorities in Cyprus have as much rights as the majority, it is however an inescapable fact that the minorities do not rule unless of course there is a dictatorial regime in place.
The fundamental principle on which democracy is based upon is that the majority have the final say in any election etc.
Personally I believe that the continued occupation of Cyprus's northern parts by a foreign country is not conducive to bringing about a settlement. I also believe that the inbred reluctance of the G/Cs to embrace Cyprus as their true motherland is a great obstacle. If only the two major communities recognized the need to embrace their own nation and ditch their pseudo motherlands, perhaps then all Cypriots can live in peace and security on this beautiful island.

my dear claret21 you have the maturity of 12 year old when it comes to politics. let me give you some facts. a founding nation will never be a minority no matter what the numbers are in terms of overall population numbers. it was the eokas first intention to reduce the status of the tcs to a minority. may they burn in hell for taking us down that route and destroying Cyprus. anybody who advocates such an idea can join them in. when you have two different nations in a country one man one vote 5 year dictatorship is never good enough. there are plenty of example of countries where it is not working. lets look at uk after 300 years they have come to the conclusion that it does not work and are aiming for federation or division. do you people not learn from other peoples mistakes.

How exactly did EOKA reduce an existing status ie that of a T/C minority ?

Here was I thinking that Cyprus was just one nation, one island with a G/C majority and other minorities! Silly me.
While we are talking about minorities would you care to enlighten me as to precisely what you consider the 20 million Kurds of Turkey to be !! I hope you will say that you consider Turkeys treatment of its own massive minority as disgraceful. While you are at it would you also take in the disgustingly inhumane culture of honour killings.

There is only one country founded in 1960. Read the RoC Constitution and Treaty of Guarantee.

The Cyprus problem will not be solved through negotiations. Forget it. We will continue to negotiate until we are ready...

There was one nation, the nation of Cyprus, recognized the world over as the RoC.
he creation of the pseudo state was heralded by the invasion of Cyprus by a foreign nation.
The fact that there was more than one language, this reflected on the T/C community, albeit a minority but nevertheless equal under the legislature.
Ditch Turkey, and this equally applies to the G/Cs, ditch Greece, retain your special relationships, but stand up and be proud of your own nation.
The genuine G/Cs and T/Cs are the most hospitable and friendly people in the globe.
Their sense of loyalty to their family's and friends is incomparable to any other people.
May I also mention the breathtaking beauty of the Cypriot sun rise as the sun's rays break through the clouds and morning mist to cast their reflection across city glass fronted dwellings and structures and proudly announce the start of a new day. The hot steamy summers that stimulate your taste buds for a cold beer, the winters with strikingly harsh lightnings that make you take your breath away thinking that the ...end is near!

...actually there are three Official Languages, but let's not cloud the issue.

since it's founding, Cyprus was and is a Unitary state. there is no good reason for this to change. however, the compromise, the big idea of a Bicommunal (now Bizonal) Federated State invites the possibility of defining an identity as Individuals, for Universal Principals as Cypiots, for Freedom, who as Persons have Liberty as Cypriot Constituencies where within territorial jurisdictions they can as a Majority sustain their distinctions, effecting their daily lives in a manner where they can demonstrate their Goodwill toward the Minorities that live amongst them.

...Lordo if you want to kick ass. demand an equal to the Turkish Constituency. if you love Cyprus, dismiss the debate as it is framed, be clear, "Greeks" and "Turks" are anathema to the survival of the island as a place where people can live in peace, and as a People no longer the subject of plunder.

Don’t worry about the 1960 constitution Lordo dear for your people declared it null & void, abandoned it and went on to replace it with some Islamic thing.
