Gross/Net Wage?

Postby Sotiria » Mon Apr 22, 2013 9:50 am

Hello all :D

We are currently just having a look at job vacancies, and some say monthly wage 900-1,200 euros or something. Is that the gross wage, or everytime I see something like that, should I calculate a specific percentage off to then find out the real wage? :? I'd know how to do that in the UK, but are there monthly payments like NI etc in Cyprus? *very confused*

xx

Considering that a lot of people in this forum (I'm thinking the majority) actually live in Cyprus, I was kind of hoping that maybe someone could have some information on this.

I have experience of ringing up or emailing companies and work agencies, and the answers are either sometimes not clear, or are never fully there. And I am sorry to say this, but if you do not have an answer that is nice, why bother?

Cos he's an idiot.
Contributions are 16.6 percent of gross earnings; employees and employers both pay 6.3 percent, while the Republic pays the remaining 4 percent. Contributions are calculated up to a certain maximum on earnings; no contributions are calculated on any earnings over a fixed amount. (January 2008) So I suggest you deduct the said amount from the amounts quoted. However this could change depending on how the company breaks down the wages.

Ok, I hope you find this answer to your satisfaction:

When they say €1,000 p/month what they really mean is €1,000,000 p/month and all your expenses paid.

Jobs advertised give the Gross (how can it be net?) amount deduct 6.3% from the amount da dah what you should take home.....
(Late edition) if you have to pay your own Social Insurance that is 11.6% plus 4% from the republic.
Minimum wage is 854 euros, there are ways employers can break down you salary (if your foreign) so as you both only pay 6.3% on 854 euros. Depends on the company etc.

Minimum wage doesn't apply for all sectors.

What is it with you guys? Not saying it applies here either, it is a rough question with rough answer, it all depends on who the employer is!!! IT IS JUST A BASIC GUIDE LINE. You can expect no more when dealing with companies from Cyprus, each have there own rules and ways of running the show..... This is not a debate someone on the forum asked a question I have tried to give them a basic idea.
