I can foresee that as being useful in Cyprus. You can bide your time and get more experience and qualifications in the right direction for getting a job with the projected increase in demand for divers in the Gas industry at Limassol. Keep an eye out from now for such jobs in the petroleum journals.

Until then, you could inquire at some of the scuba diving schools especially now as the tourist season opens up. There's one in Polis-Latchi.

But living in the Polis area is expensive.

Yeah, the closest is “Peyia” just a short drive north of Pathos.

I was thinking about the diving but the only problem is, is that it is only useful during season, what could i do in between? Is there any little villages a shortish drive away from Polis?

Diving instructors are paid peanuts...

Are you PADI or BSAC?

BSAC qualified. Seems a lot of jobs are paid peanuts to be fair. I read on a website ( ill try and find the link later) that Cyprus is currently crying out for English speaking teachers. Is this the case as I could invest my time money and effort going down that route?

It won't do any harm to study for a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) - then you can teach in-between the diving seasons.

btw - there are lots of nice villages, for accommodation, around Polis-Latchi within easy reach of the diving center-sea. Cycling is an easy way of getting around (there are dedicated tracks) if you want to forego the expense of a car.

That is a good idea MIK. Appreciate it. My plan is to go over with enough saved up so i can live for at least 6 months comfortably. I am thinking of coming over for a month to see what can be found so i can have atleast an idea of where to live and work etc.

These are brilliant ideas! Cycling is a excellent way to keep fit so this is a very viable option. I am thinking of staying in the uk until next May/June. Then i should have enough saved to see me through!

UnderwaterMan, have you found that link anywhere? I was very interested in studying for a TEFL, but when searching on their websites couldn't find any openings. It'd be very interesting to see what it says
