There's your rubbish right there. Strawberries aren't grown from November.

Do you object to 2 farm-workers defending themselves (whilst avoiding seriously injuring anyone - was anyone killed? NO) against an angry mob of 200 migrants demanding ready CASH?

Or do you just drown them like they do in the UK?

Regardless, don't mess with Spartans!

[Don't take any notice of him B25 - he always gets like this when even STUD shows him up for his anti-Greek bullshit. ]

Good for you - I knew you wouldn't let me down! :D

I didn't think for a moment you would need the help of your sycophantic little mate either....

Don’t downplay this Oracle because withholding pay for an entire year from such a downtrodden lot is disgraceful.

An entire year now - yet another spin.

I'm not downplaying anything - but I'm also not going to resort to public executions (to please any biased anti-Greeks) when every single article I have seen since yesterday states a different story. This is in the hands of the law, who can weigh up all the evidence - and I can guarantee you the courts in Greece (since they do not follow English law like Cyprus does) are a whole lot tougher and these things are frowned on by Greeks even if farcical when tragedy has been averted (like in this case).

(But nobody knows how they themselves would react, when faced by an angry mob of 200 workers. Don't forget there were just 2 foremen, maybe 3 at most, facing 200.)

and in many accounts the three went away but rather than stay away came back with guns,,,,this is however the act of only three individuals which has been condemned by many in Greece,

I understand the pickers get under 30 Euro per day, when they get paid,,,,,,,, the modern day helots.

Notice; that's what I stated. Greeks condemn acts of violence. But, they (foremen) were defending themselves, were they not? Did they shoot immigrants randomly? NO!

Look - No one died, right!

Regardless of how much they "get" - they choose to be there. Many Greeks (maybe like the 2 or 3 foremen left in charge) do not choose to have these workers there.

Migrants have a hard lot wherever they go. Greece is inundated with MORE than its fair share, being at the border of EU and stuck with Turkey's constant casting off.

The UK is soooo far away from this and yet it still manages to kill a few ...

Were they defending themselves when seemingly had a chance to walk (which they apparently took) but they reportedly came back armed.?

Complex, my left foot. You deliberately posted this to antagonise another member. This is of no real interest to the Cyprus forum. You have an agenda. Don't the forum rules say something about trolling and antagonistic thread???

You got the response you deserved.

A very serious issue and the culprits have been arrested and charged which means the Greek Authorities are taking this seriously.

Why are their no Greeks employed by this farmer? The answer to this is easy. To employ a Greek you must pay them their full entitlements. Employ Afghans and you only need to pay them 22 euros a day. Racism right there.

Let's not forget they were not paid and asked for THEIR money before being shot at by some slippery Greeks that had no intention of paying them.

FACT: racism exists everywhere. Greece and Cyprus are VERY racist. Much more racist than US, Australia, Canada I have found as they have set the standard pretty high in this day and age. Does not mean that random instances of racism do not exist. Some days ago you put an article about Indians being subjected to racism in Australia. That in essence involved a racially motivated murder where an Indian student was killed in Melbourne.

It is very clear to me that standards in Greece are very different to Australia and US. Society is more progressive and tolerant in those countries. The same applies to Cyprus.

The way I see it is if countries like Australia and US can take criticism for being racist, then so can Greece and Cyprus.

That is the only way things can improve so that both Greece and Cyprus can see white days.

It begins in the education system and I'm sure Greece and Cyprus are on to it, I hope.

This farmer just got more than he bargained for. The foreigners are probably employed illegally on the black market and tax is not paid which highlights another issue partly responsible for their financial crisis.

Bye bye Spartan Strawberry Grower.

And your foul mouthed tirade has contributed what to the thread...?

Feel free to report my posts to Admin if they in some way violate the forum rules...

As for the thread, I think it is relevant to Cyprus....

I wonder if the underlying cause of this terrible event is the harsh austerity measures forced on Greece by the EU...?
