Neoliberalism in a nutshell

NEOLIBERALISM IN A NUTSHELL

As everything is privatised and outsourced, the vast majority of the population is impoverished as masses of people are made redundant and then have to work for less money for the cheapskate contractors who put in the lowest bids to do the work they were once directly employed to do, while a handful of whiz-kid executives and financiers earn multi-million pound remuneration packages. The latter make a string of winning bets in the financial markets. There appears to be a miracle. It is no longer necessary to produce anything as the whiz-kids of high finance seem able to conjure money out of thin air. There is no need to sustain a manufacturing industry, with its pesky, well organised labour. As long as enough money can be channeled into the housing market to keep a speculative bubble going, people who have got onto the housing ladder feel good and can keep up their former standard of living, and as for those who can no longer afford housing - well, ***them, the votes of home owners are enough to give the system the electoral support it needs. All of a sudden, the whiz kids make a losing bet, the bubble bursts and the whole thing turns out to have been an illusion.

Guess who gets the pay the bill? The ordinary people, like in this proposed tax.

Watch out for the paradigm change in economics coming very soon.

The rich will go wherever they want to go and free people don't live their lives to cater for the rich! We have people deprived of their human rights to worry about.

Cyprus has one priority and I hope the government and EU do not forget their part in solving the problem.

AND YOUR BELOVED EU HVE NOT BEEN ARE NOT AND WILL NOT BE OF ANY HELP IN GETTING THE TUR*S OUT OF CYPRUS.

IF CYPRUS JOINED THE EU THINKING IT WILL SOLVE THE CYPRUS PROBLEM IT WAS MISTAKEN!

In time. Right now, if we were not in the EU, Turkey would have invaded the WHOLE island to seize the Gas reserves. The threats Turkey made to Cyprus against Gas exploration over the last few years, would have been carried out! You don't know Turkey!

The Government I do not trust is that of the USA who according to some sources, including the Rt Hon "sunny" Jim Callaghan, allowed (if not encouraged) Turkey to invade in 1974 and prevented Britain from taking action to stop the invasion as they were concerned at Cyprus under Big Mak falling into the control of the Soviet Union. I would not put it past them to allow if not encourage a second invasion if they thought it would improve US control over the gas supplies, by Eg cutting gazprom etc out of the loop or if there was a prospect of the Russians getting a significant military presence in Cyprus.

The apparent raprochment between Isreal and Turkey makes that process easier.

If the USA is involved then all bets are off about EU intervention.

Indeed the scenario you mentioned could have taken place. Who would have intervened!

I don't think Israel and US will just stand idle and let such a scenario unfold. There is no way!

Think about the logic. Israel will need to rely on Turkey and I think they would rather deal with Cyprus and Greece.

The Turkish barbaric invasion of Cyprus that caused the death of thousands, the disappearance of 100s, the displacement of more than 160,000, the continued occupation of almost 40% of the island, the infestation of the occupied parts by Anatolian peasants, the presence in the occupied parts of more peasants, the so called British ex-pats, is another reason mate why Turkey and is strongly disliked!
May I also add that as a Brit my self, I find the presence and the support of Turkey by fellow Brits absolutely disgraceful.

...Cypriots should want the Americans involved, the biggest American proxy in the area is Israel, the Americans are involved. With the Eu taking the road of using the Un in order to legitimize the EEZ of Greece, then Uncle Sams invisible hand is already directing things for Turkey..

We're in the EU - our alliance has to be to the EU - If the USA want to cooperate with the EU and Russia wants to cooperate with the EU - that's great.

The cold war is history.
