Start at Calais and draw a line down towards Milan, continue over Greece and nip down fast to Cyprus. All the above are the "rich" northern European states (read liars) and the ones below are the ones who have a life!
I agree with you. The average northern European lives poorly in old ratholes, buying food from Lidl or Tesco, riding slow buses and trains, and suffering from the bad weather.
BTW, Geneva, Switzerland falls in the southern part...
Yes, poor quality of life. Unfortunately it leaves them with nothing better to do than plot and scheme how they can steal as many of the resources and finances of their naturally better-off brethren in the southern states.
Switzerland has some spectacular scenery but driving from place to place is soul destroying as you're stuck in tunnels for 75% of the time. The people are miserable and soooo money hungry - and no surprise - they ask for cash to give you a 'better deal'!
