Why do I think that sven and appel are the same person?

Some checking of IP addresses is required.

There's a lot of pressure from outsiders, euro-haters, who want to see us leave - but we will be annihilated by turkey if not for being in the EU (especially since the Gas finds). Unfortunately, knowing this, the EU are making us pay (as they did to Greece) but hopefully our politicians are negotiating some returns on these deals in the form of removing the Turks soon.

Exactly! He burst in here a month ago telling everyone to stockpile water when we’ve had record rainfalls!

There's nothing to compare with Iceland!

Iceland doesn't even have a military to worry about whereas Cyprus has to fork out 0.5 billion on that alone each year!

Add to that the annual 2-3k UN peacekeepers present on the island and that’s another astronomical bill.

Add to that a separatist minority with enslaved enclave (“TRNC”) and that’s another huge bill providing services to them.

The list goes on and on!

I think they can’t get over the fact at how wealthy Cyprus was!

GET REAL .... You really are a top class dumb ass!!!!

Well, I have to admit I was not accurate there .........

Correction .... GET REAL ... You really are a top class delusional dumb ass, with attitude!

Appel: Your post was well written and informative but, as you can see from the comments made on this Forum, it would never work here. The Cypriots will have to show the rest of the World how to solve this problem; they certainly will not take any well meaning and sound advice as they always know best. Their form to date has not been very successful but, give them time ................... they have only been a Nation State for fifty three years.

Absolutely give Cyprus time! In those 53 years, we had to undo 300 years of slavery under the Ottomans, then a century under suppressive British colonial rule. But within a few years of some relative freedom Cyprus managed to throw together some long-waited for infrastructure, denied to us till then. Cyprus managed to build among the most Dams per head of population - single-handedly by the GCs as the Tcs were busy plotting how to get Turkey in! The rest (1964 attempted invasion, 1974 invasion - till now) I'm sure you are familiar with. Cyprus has had a lot more to contend with than Iceland and anyone who cannot see that is simply dismissively discriminatory - and has their eyes closed to the cyclical suffering Cyprus has had forced upon it.
