Its down to the quality and most of the builders, developers, tradesmen and designers are clueless!

Just don’t buy the junk villas in the Paphos touristy areas and you’ll be alright.

I am however referring to the Title of the post and the quality or said buildings built during or before the "boom" and the lack of quality therein.

Having said all that GreekIslandGirl, you must still admit that construction in Cyprus is pants. As long as you have the 'meso' in Cyprus, anything goes and that's what has been killing Cyprus for a long while now.

It's not about "meso" but it's about money. If you have money, you can build something to your own specifications.

This is only the case if you are building your own house.

There are quality villas being built but they are pricey. We saw one Cypriot developer a while back who has a holistic approach bringing the natural environment, contours and setting into the design. They build individual homes but they are very expensive. Beautiful stuff.

The cheap-end stuff is no worse than cheaper estates being built anywhere else. Are you seriously saying builders anywhere else are any better? I don't think you can have much experience. An engineer I was talking to a while back, about my love for Victorian villas in the UK, told me that they used to build really well back then because they didn't know HOW to build. Now we know how to build, with structural factors being taken into account, we try and get away with the minimum that will stand up.
