she was a heartless excuse for a human being with no compassion for the working class. she drove millions into poverty while reducing taxes for very rich. she sold the country's asset on the cheap and all her ministers became directors of those companies. her son is a arms dealer. thats the worst kind of a leach there is in society. what was it she said. there is no society. oh yes there is and they dancing today.

may she rust in peace.

IFS figures show median earnings went up faster under Thatcher than under Major or during Blair’s second and third terms. Everyone got richer on Maggie’s Farm, including the poor. It comes down to this: would you rather be more equal but poorer, or less equal but better off?

Mrs Gould giving Maggie a roasting, about the sinking of the Belgrano.
It is said that of all the People to have attended a Bilderberg Meeting, Lady Thatcher is rumoured to be the only PERSON, man or woman, to have actually stood up to them and said "NO" , a short while later, she was out of a job.

There were plenty of opportunities to confront Thatcher when she was alive. We should now mourn the person she was when she died - a frail old lady who had herself forgotten all these things Glenda Jackson MP reminded us of again .... that
the late PM “wreaked heinous social, economic and spiritual damage” upon her constituency and constituents and the country as a whole.

Only people in work appear on this graph. So the millions who were thrown onto the dole during the eighties are not accounted for. How did per-capita GDP fare over the same period?

Thank you. Notice the downward spike from 1979.

The point is, if you refer to your previous table showing wages, it would appear that everyone got better off between 1979-1981 (and 1981 was just the turnround and it was not until 1983 that the graph returns above the 1979 position) - when the GDP figures imply the opposite. The reason for this was that millions of people became unemployed at that time and thus ceased to show up on the table of wage earners. The lesson is that economic statistics need to be interpreted carefully and simple decontextualised generalisations do not necessarily stand scrutiny.
