I wouldn't worry too much about immigration...

I've been here ten years, I've jumped through all the hoops... An Alien card, yellow slip, pink slip, ID card, etc. They change it all the time...

Last time I went to immigration to renew the pink/yellow slip (or whatever colour it was on that day), I didn't have the right bit of paper to complete the application... The girl behind the desk said "don't worry about it, you are European"...

Truth is, they would find it very difficult to throw out somebody from another EU country...

Plus, there have been people here as long as me who have never got any of those bits of paper mentioned above...

Yes, it is actually very simple moving here - no language barrier to get over in those first few weeks when you are trying to sort everything out...

Have you considered Pissouri...?

Last time I went to renew the yellow slip they gave me a permanent one - after I had jumped though a lot of hoops and brought back all the papers they asked for - so no worries any more. I though the rule was that after five years, if you keep your nose clean, you are in for good. I could be wrong. As you say, they keep changing the rules.

My understanding too - having been here ten, driving licence, ID card, title deeds, etc. I believed we could do the 'fast track' route which didn't require medical insurance, etc. WRONG!

Bizarre thing is, I understand that new people cane come here now, buy a property and bung some money in the bank and get direct access to it...

So medical insurance is an issue then? Pissouri looks a nice place, is it quite laid back? Want to be somewhere quite but not remote:-) we're bringing our dog out with us so need to think about him too

Given that you will not be in employment (so not having an employer who is making social insurance contributions on your behalf), or self-employed/a business proprietor (and thus not making your own social insurance contributions), I think they will require this. As cyprusgrump says, they keep changing the rules. You will have to apply to the immigration department and they will tell you what is needed.

Thanks Tim, do I need to do this prior to moving or once I'm there?
