Come on, gumbare, Karpas should be left as a natural park.

of course it should Tim, but you explain it to the terks. the annan plan would have put a stop to that but our brothers in the south did not like the idea of sharing power. so they left us in the hands of the turks and now they complain about what the terks are doing.

back home we have a phrase - papaza. in other words you have a complaint go to the priest. you give them an inch and they dont just take a foot or yard or a mile, they want their cake and eat it - the whole lot.

na fan da skada. thats all they deserve. of course with the usual exception of the decent gcs, they are an exception. but how many are here 2? the rest are full of shit.

I thought you were a GC. You certainly speak the lingo well!

i am neither tim i am a cypriot. all these fanatics belong elsewhere. pack em up and send em away is what i say.

except gr he is a confused fanatic.

Pack 'em up ... in Lordos rubbish bags, no doubt.

Incidentally, I first passed on news about these plans over four years ago:

In fact, based on the above report, things seem to be running late.

The Anan plan wouldn't have kicked the Turks out. That's why the south said no.

We want a just solution, without other countries involved. Turkey should abolish all claims on Cyprus.

As all will know, the beaches up at the top end of the Karpas are nesting sites for this protected species...

Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas)

The pickies are from the Karpas, showing the eggs and hatchlings on the endangered beaches.

... and there are still plans to hold a mega music festival this Sept just a few yards away from the nesting sites...!!!

Yeah, they'll need at least 6 lanes coming and 6 going to accommodate the visiting Azerbaijanis.

Look ...!!! ... will some of you boys behave yourselves...!!!

This is an exceptionally serious matter.

Anyway, here's another picky...

On the left you'll see a map of the Karpas, shaded in to zones.

The zones marked on the map in Red are Strictly Protected Areas for Birds. The designations come from EU funded environmental assessment work of a couple of years ago.

The picky of the road widening on the right focuses on the circled area on the map, clearly a Red Protected Area and is an example of how the road widening has damaged even these protected areas.

By way of balance...

We should perhaps consider the amazing diversity of shotgun cartridges found all over the Akamas...

We should think about the damage done to wildlife by the bird mincers we have installed...

And we should ponder on the Turtle nests destroyed by double cabs driving up and down the beaches in Pissouri and other nesting areas...

Just saying...
