The entity known as the TRNC is under the effective control of Turkey, and a lot of the land in Karpas has reputedly been bought up by Israeli capital so as to be developed into tourist facilities.

of course it should Tim, but you explain it to the terks. the annan plan would have put a stop to that but our brothers in the south did not like the idea of sharing power. so they left us in the hands of the turks and now they complain about what the terks are doing.
back home we have a phrase - papaza. in other words you have a complaint go to the priest. you give them an inch and they dont just take a foot or yard or a mile, they want their cake and eat it - the whole lot.
na fan da skada. thats all they deserve. of course with the usual exception of the decent gcs, they are an exception. but how many are here 2? the rest are full of shit.

CyBC's Biz/Emeis television programme went out and interviewed some of the protestors and also some of the local villagers (the area is nowadays mainly populated by people imported from Turkey) who were staging a counter-demonstration - they want this development (a case of IMBY rather than NIMBY!).
