The fabled gate to the underworld, discovered in Turkey, is referred to in legend as Pluto’s Gate.

The ancient cave was commemorated in Greco-Roman mythology and traditions as the doorway to the ‘underworld.’

The team behind the dig located the portal recently in the ancient Phrygian city of Hierapolis –referred to as the entryway to Hell by Cicero and Greek geographer Strabo.

the article calls the City Phrygian but Archeology suggests it was more probably Hellenistic.

Wikipedia: the earliest signs of a city date to 3rd Century BC, ie after the conquest of the area by Alexander. The use of the phrase Phrygian (which usualy describes a period 500 years before) might be because the Turks want to unfairly hide the Hellenic origin of that city.

ah but may be that where they got the idea about "settlers"......

That said the evidence also shows that the ancient Phrygians (who evidently supported Troy in the Trojan war) were possibly closely related to the Greeks as they seemed to speak an IE language that was quite close to Greek)
