Probably they offered them a halloumi and a loaf of bread (CY expression). If you search google, you will find thousands of similar products.
Innovation is a challenging field and many years of exhaustive effort are needed to reach worthwhile results.
You got to give credit where credit is due.
The young Cypriots responsible for this are doing a fine job. These are recreational, kit, home build aircraft targeting a specific niche market. You only require an experimental aircraft licence to fly one, in this case an experimental rotary wing licence. There are many like it in US, UK, Canada and Australia, and if you were interested in buying something like this you would probably stay away from Chinese kit. It's like if you were planning on buying a light aircraft you would probably buy an American, British or French manufactured plane, and you would be happy to pay a little more.
If these guys are making a 10,000 margin on their Gyrocopter, and if they have sold 27 so far, then they got themselves a good earner, and a fun job. This kind of thing is good for Cyprus.
Eventually they may get big enough to move out of their shed and they may also get enough capital to diversify into UAV/UAS.
I think it is high time that individuals like yourself stop killing inspiration, innovation and dreams. Just because you are a defeatist loser, doesn't mean we all are!
