the mail article refers to an article in Ο Φιλελεύθερος.

Cypriot president Nikos Anastasiades 'warned' close friends of the financial crisis about to engulf his country so they could move their money abroad, it was claimed on Friday.

The respected Cypriot newspaper Filelftheros made the allegation which was picked up eagerly by German media.

I cannot find the source.

There was certainly gossip about a haircut for savers in the few days before the weekend.

Surely the writing has been on the wall for some time? It wasn't rocket science to work out that Cyprus couldn't sustain things in the current form. You can bet that the financially literate saw it coming.
