What strikes me is that there was no criticism from the same source of the original proposal involving a levy on all bank accounts, even though this went against another EU cardinal principle that bank balances of less than 100,000 euro are inviolable. (Whether or not, as some claim, Merkel et. al. behind closed doors opposed the levy on small deposits, the fact remains that she did not publicly come out in opposition to it). I can only conclude that even if they were not responsible for the crisis in the first place, the German regime/German ruling class (not the ordinary German people) for some reason has decided to exploit this crisis to destroy Cyprus as a banking centre.

You don't think that the actions of the Cypriot bankers might have destroyed Cyprus as a banking centre all by themselves? You think that they needed help?
