Hi Rulla

I always feel very safe in Dubai, have you had a bad experience there?

That is one of the most stupid remarks I've seen on these forums and there are plenty of stupid remarks to choose from! Dubai is probably safer than Cyprus as a whole and certainly safer than certain quarters of Limassol or Ayia Napa.

Hi Rulla

Arab countries vary of course, but because of the very severe penalties for law breaking, some are very safe.

Arabs are just people, like you and me. Why the racism? The fact that a very small minority of Arabs are Islamic extremists is no different than, say, a small minority of Irish people are Catholic or Protestant extremists or a small minority of Germans are neo-Nazi thugs. I've travelled widely, including to a number of Arab countries (and other Muslim states) and have never found anything but warmth and friendship from the people I've met. Obviously, I would tend to avoid Iraq at this moment, but that is not because of the nature of the Iraqis but because it is an occupied country,

You haven't offended me, but I'm intolerant of racism and, especially, one that englobes many different peoples from Morocco to Iraq and from Lebanon to Yemen. Placing them all into a single bucket is like putting all Europeans into one.

Hmm! You do not dislike Arabs, OK. Yet you dislike visiting countries peopled by Arabs, including those that have never had any extremist activity and are considered as perfectly safe, even by the very paranoid US Department of State. It would seem that there is a bell ringing out of tune, somewhere.

Tell me, what do you do when you want to go to the nearest town to you? You are FAR more likely to be roughed up in Ayia Napa than in Dubai. Again, you are far more likely to be killed in a traffic accident going from Derynia to Ayia Napa than being roughed up in Ayia Napa. Do you stay at home 24/7 with the doors and windows locked tight?

Let's keep a sense of proportion.
