Visiting Cyprus Early April

Postby Towelltodust » Fri Mar 22, 2013 12:11 pm

Hi

I am going to holiday in Cyprus early April. Thought it was good plan due to UK weather.

There has been no travel advice in UK re visiting Cyprus.

Should I cancel and lose deposit etc?

I do not want to come if I am going to be holidaying in extremely difficult conditions and not relaxing etc.

I would imagine there are other people like me with the holiday season around the corner....

dear friend , you can come there is no risk for you. :)
you will maybe even have the chance to get rebate.
the problem will be for the next 10 days us to get cash at ATM and people that have an account in Laiki bank.
for tourist there is no problem.

Thank you for reply.

My initial questions would be.

1. Are money exchange places open to change pounds to Euros?

2. I use a pre-paid credit card ( prevent skimming) can I use this to pay for fuel for hire car and in restaurants?

The honest (and only real) answer is that nobody really knows yet...

The situation will become much clearer at the beginning of next week when whatever deal that has been hammered out is made public and the banks re-open....

1) As matters stand many businesses are declining to accept plastic because they need the money in hand and/or do not want to risk large sums going into banks, against the prospect the banks will go bust. The Fuel stations in particular want cash in hand.
2) you might find you can get a good deal for pounds outside of normal exchange centers but I suggest bring extra Euro.....
