1. Cyprus government is now considering to create a private company linked with gas profits, land, gold etc, and people will be able to voluntary buy shares in this company. The problem: Cypriots are very few, and even if all of us buy shares the state will not get all the required money.

2. A few years ago some teenager created the "Million Dollar Homepage" http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/ Basically that page had 1 million pixels and he sold each pixel for 1 dollar. Crazy? Yes! But that person sold all pixels and made 1 million dollars! (many others tried the same after, but failed. The whole point is to be the first to make a new cool thing)

How are these two things related? Here is how: Cyprus at this moment has the attention of the world, and with this "crazy" idea we will get 10 times more attention. The Cyprus government should create a website in several languages where people around the world, using their credit card, can buy shares in this company for $20 each. Make it a cool website, and use the attention we have now to promote it around the world. Many people around the world will buy shares, not just because it will be backed by real value but because it will be such a cool new thing that never happened before.

What is to stop EG Turkish interests buying all the shares?

i have a better solution - the russians need a base in the med
they also own most of the economy here anyway
while a chunk of cyprus is occupied by turkey
just sell the occupied territories to russia and compensate the gc owners of the land with gas shares
and everyone is happy - the banks and the gov get their money, the russians have a base and the gc from the north are finally compensated

oh and turkey is majorly screwed

The shares offered will be for less than the 50%. Obviously our gas, gold etc worth a lot more than 17billion. So if the Turks want to buy a minority share let them do!

That's exactly what the EU wants us to do. What they want for everyone to do. The rich can carry on getting richer. Profits will go into the pockets of shareholders. They made Greece go down that road. Piraeus now belongs to the Chinese.
