They expanded into these countries to make money and that is what they did. They made lot's of money from Russia and Australia. Bank of Cyprus Australia just got bought out by an Australian Bank.

What killed them was investing in close by Greece.

Therefore Russia and Australia good and Greece VERY BAD or destroyer of Cypriot Banking system.
